Pigment Clears In Layers, So We Treat It In Layers
One AFT session begins the correction. Four of them finish it.
Week One
Full-Face Session
Sixty minutes. Skin is cleansed, exfoliated, peeled and lasered, then masked and protected. Surface pigment darkens before it lifts.
Week Two
First Correction Pass
Thirty minutes. The layer cleared last week is gone, so the light reaches pigment that was previously out of range.
Week Three
Second Correction Pass
Tone starts evening out across the whole face rather than just where the darkest spots were.
Week Four
Final Pass
The correction settles. Skin reads clearer and brighter, and collagen stimulation continues for weeks afterwards.

How It Works
How AFT Reaches Pigment That Creams Cannot
AFT stands for Advanced Fluorescence Technology, Alma's refinement of intense pulsed light. Standard IPL fires a broad, uneven pulse, much of it outside the useful range.
AFT converts that wasted short-wavelength light into the therapeutic spectrum and delivers it evenly across the pulse. More of the energy does useful work, at a lower intensity.
That light is absorbed by the melanin in your pigment and the haemoglobin in visible vessels. Both heat, break apart, and are cleared by your immune system over the following days. The skin around them is left alone.

Your First Session Is A Full-Face Protocol, Not Just A Laser Pass
Session one prepares and resets the whole face so the laser can reach pigment cleanly. Sessions two to four are the focused correction passes.

Cleanse
Excess oil, makeup, sweat and dead cells are removed. Anything left on the surface scatters the light before it reaches the pigment.

Enzyme Exfoliation And Gentle Extractions
Papaya and pineapple enzymes loosen dead cells, then blackheads and whiteheads are cleared by hand. This is the step that makes session one 60 minutes, and it is why we do it first: it clears the way for everything that follows.

Where your skin tolerates it, a tailored peel takes down the upper layer. Applied at the therapist's judgement, not by default.

Why four sessions? Can I not just book one?
You can, and it will lift the pigment closest to the surface. What sits underneath will still be there, and it becomes visible again as your skin renews. That is the pattern behind almost every "I tried laser and it came back" story. The protocol exists so the correction is finished rather than started.
AED 3,720 is a lot. Why does it cost this much?
Booked individually, these four sessions come to AED 5,905. Inside the protocol they work out at AED 930 each, which is less than our single-session price of AED 1,260. Put differently, four sessions cost less than three bought one at a time. Tabby splits it into four payments if you prefer.
I have melasma. Will this get rid of it for good?
No, and we would rather tell you that now than after four sessions. Melasma is hormonal and chronic. It is managed, not cured, by any treatment on the market.
What AFT can do is visibly lighten it and even out the surrounding tone, with maintenance sessions and daily SPF keeping it down. Melasma can also rebound with heat and sun, so your therapist will assess whether AFT is the right choice for your case or whether a different approach suits you better. That assessment happens before you pay for anything.
Will the pigmentation come back?
Pigment cleared during your sessions is broken down and carried away by your body. New pigment can still form afterwards from sun exposure and hormonal change, which is why SPF is applied before you leave the clinic and why we ask you to use it daily. Living in Dubai, that part is not optional.
Does it hurt?
Most clients describe warmth and a light flick, like a rubber band. Cold gel is applied first and the pulses are short. It is one of the more comfortable treatments we offer.
Is there really no downtime?
There is no recovery period. You may leave slightly flushed for an hour or two, and treated spots often darken for a few days before flaking away. You can go back to work straight from the appointment, and mineral makeup can go on from the next day.
How soon will I see a change?
Usually within one to two weeks of the first session, as the treated pigment lifts and clears. Tone continues to even out with each session, and collagen stimulation carries on for weeks after the fourth.
Why is the first session 60 minutes and the rest 30?
Session one is a full-face protocol. Alongside the laser, your skin is cleansed, exfoliated with enzymes, extracted by hand where needed, peeled, then finished with a soothing mask and SPF. It clears the surface so the light reaches the pigment properly and sets the baseline for the course. Sessions two to four are the focused correction passes: cleanse, peel, laser.
Can I have this if my skin is sensitive or prone to redness?
Often yes. AFT delivers an even, filtered pulse at lower intensity than older IPL systems, which is why it is used for rosacea and flushing rather than avoided because of them. Your therapist assesses your skin and sets the parameters accordingly. If your skin is not a fit for AFT, we will say so and suggest what is.
What do I need to do before my first session?
Stop retinoids, acids and exfoliating scrubs five days beforehand. Avoid unprotected sun, tanning beds and self-tanner for a week. Drink plenty of water for the 48 hours before. Come with a bare face, no makeup or skincare on the treated area. Tell us about any photosensitising medication you take.
